A beer

Well, half of one. Splitting a bottle with Dearly_Beloved.

I drink boozahol once in a blue moon, as it generally doesn't agree with me these days and I've been known to get a 48 hour hangover on the back of a couple of pints. But it's a bit warm, and I'm putting away ten tonnes of shopping, and a cold fizzy lager seemed fairly appealing. And anyway, I needed to make space in the fridge....

Hogs Back Arromas over Tongham. It's 9%, but really suffers if chilled. Goes all thin and watery. Warm, it's nice, albeit still not the mouthfeel you usually get off something this weighty.

We had some of that at the Kent Beer Festival last week. It was on the section of the bar where I was serving so naturally I sampled it. Didn't like it. Too harsh. It seemed to be very popular with the students though.

One chap actually complained that more people were drinking it than the splendid Hawkshead beer that was next to it. I didn't care - more Hawkshead left for me at the end of the evening.

2 pints of Greene King IPA, which unusually for a BSE bitter, was quite pleasant.
2 pints of Cobra, washed down with a jalfrezi.
3 cups strong Indian restaurant coffee
some instant coffee
a pint of water
