Title: Mullet builds
Post by: The Family Cyclist on 29 February, 2024, 07:47:01 pm
Had an email from alpkit and mentioned a mullet build bike. Had to Google to work out what was as couldn't work out how a bike could be work on top and weekend at back

Turns out it has a 29" wheel front and a 27 5" rear. I've heard of this before but this was probably before 27.5 so had a 26 one end and a 29 other so was more suggestively named a 69er

My fixie has a 700C (622) front wheel and a 26" (559) rear. It's based on a tight clearance British Eagle 653 frame. That way the smaller rear wheel could carry a fatter tyre, clear the frame and not have to worry about lining up braking surfaces or needing very, very long armed brake calipers. Trad fixie front brake only sees to stopping duties
