I reckon what's happened is that he has made such an almighty balls-up with that brazing that he has thrown a complete wobbler in his garden shed and given it a good thrashing.

Since it doesn't have any brakes whatsoever, that might explain the accident on the way back from the "specialist frame builder". :-\
