I've got am stp file but can't print the drawing out. I've got a free stp viewer to see it but it doesn't offer a print option.
Anyone know a free and quick way to print or convert then print the file?

I've only dealt with STL files but I understand there are a number of STP viewers for free which also include the ability to export to STL which you can then load in to your slicing programme and print.

I have stpviewer but it doesn't allow me to convert files.
Have you tried this:
https://beta.sharecad.org/en/
I can't seem to generate or download a test file to try it for you unfortunately.

Thanks everyone for your help. I managed to get something out but it wasn't helpful to us. So we had to go back to the customer anyway. Appreciate the help everyone. I used a free cad package in the end.

Windows 10 should have a built-in viewer?

A step file is a 3D model. To get a useful 2D drawing you'd have to prepare it yourself or get the customer to do it for you.
