Old Roads 300 2023
« on: 25 January, 2023, 12:35:53 pm »
I love this ride and it's an ideal gauge for how things are going pre PBP as similar sort of terrain. However this year it starts at night which is a shame as I personally have no need of night riding experience and I like the challenge of doing it in the light. Living in the South West I really struggle nowadays to find local rides which is a shame, I hanker for the days of Mike and Linda's 'Moor like a 400' and Ian's 'Kernow South West' both great rides.

Sarah Britton runs the calendar event now.  The night start allows a pub finish.

I still run the perm version, which you may start at any time to suit.

Oh very clever ...
Anyway, found it now!

Start time suits me, as I did the whole last leg in the dark.
Will see some new views, and save a night's accommodation!

Sunrise at 0525: Wiveliscombe @ 154km or further if going better (and no incentive for languid stop at early controls).
Great lunch menu at Cranberry Farm (pub) (310km in 15 hours) - full value must finish by 1930.
