A date for your diaries?
Friday 23 August 2024 - 11am start, Brampton, Cumbria
The event is now on the Audax UK Calendar but entries won't open until Autumn 2023 exact date tbc
www.audax.uk/event-details/10107-borders_and_flatlands_thousandIn summary it's a loop round the Scottish Borders then south via Garsdale Head, across the Humber Bridge to Leicestershire then back to the finish in Brampton via Yad Moss.
It's mainly on quiet roads, some undulating bits at the beginning and end with some long climbs and equally long descents but no long steep sections and as the name suggests quite a lot of flat bits.
There are 3 event controls at Kirkby Stephen (261km), Carlton le Moorland twice (southbound 550km and northbound 679km), Northallerton (891km). Finish is a village Hall just outside Brampton
There'll be food and some limited floorspace at the event controls so you'll be able to get some sleep or there are commercial options if you prefer.
Current plan is for a bag drop between the controls (which should work for all bar the quickest riders later in the ride)
Entry fee to be confirmed in 2023 when I've got a better idea of how much things will cost, I'm trying to keep it reasonable and good value.
