JS, are you real or imaginary? ;D

Hadn't you heard? Steel is real (no relation).

Nothing to worry about, I can assure you.  We're mostly harmless.

And back on thread:

If I can complete a 100k I'll be happy. I might try the Windrush Winter Warm-up, I did that in 07 so I know what to expect.

If I can do a 200 as well I'll be delighted.

Apart from my lack of fitness, it's getting the time clearance from home that's the major limiting factor.

Pretty much the same as scottlington.

LEL
Double SR
50 Audax points
50+ FWC points (Elenith, BCM, LEL amongst others)
AAA points (Elenith, BCM, Midland Super Grimpeur)
Avenge last years DNF'd DIY 400 to Cornwall
Get {faster,fitter}
Get lighter (below 12st, so 1st to lose)

Planned ride list: Is anyone doing the [INSERT RIDE HERE] in 2009? (a.k.a. LEL plans...)

That reminds me - Alex, can you let me know when you start doing your 100k DIY round the Surrey Hills. If you don't mind, I'd like to join you.

Sure. I doubt I'll be starting the midweek evening rides (passing through Dorking about 6.15pm) for a good few months, at least until there is still a bit of light at 8pm or so (so that's April then). Will try and squeeze in a good few weekend rides before then though.

The planned route (see elevation data!) (start/end in Putney) is about 125km and ~1550m of climbing however I need to tweak the controls (Putney, Dorking, Cranleigh, Epsom, Putney) as it may not pass AUK DIY validation (it's 98.5km on Shortest but 105.3km on 8/8/31/31/31 settings on Quickest in Autoroute).

I've managed to do 3 turbo sessions this week and have not have a bad reaction from my knee.  An improvement on 2 weeks ago when a 30km ride on the fixie caused a bit of a setback.

So my goals for this season are now relatively modest compared to previous years: an SR series, and LEL.

Plus the Fred Whitton Challenge.

Oh and walking 16 mile across Exmoor.  At night.  In February.

Anything else will be a bonus.

Yes, this has been pissing me off.

Done.  Any more Audaxing this year - and there's none planned at present -  will be just for 'fun'.

Having BTDTGTTS & been involved with LEL as a volunteer at Thorne my revised goal for 2009 is to get some regular Auk rides in,ideally upto 200k before the winter arrives because I now have a goal for 2013 already

I want to manage at least one audax on the tandem.  We may get hooked.

Um.

I wrote that when I was off the bike with a broken wrist.  I must have been mad.  Since then, another injury makes my very modest goal look hopelessly unattainable now :'(

Changed home circumstances mean I don't currently have any free weekends anyway, so it's probably just as well if I defer a year (again :-[ )
Getting there...

My first goal for 2009 was to beat 2008's mileage, which for home and job reasons was the lowest for a number of years. I beat it last week!!!

Now if the weather would just get a bit better on my days off, I might be able to increase it further.
