I am happy to report that I've achieved this one again (subject to processing/validation of recent events)
Come on folks - come and join me
-
Working on it ... might take me a whole year though, not just 5 months ;)
Congrats
-
I'm trying.....

Well ridden Mikey! And 98 of those 100 in less than four months.
(I'm only 100 points behind, you'd better watch out.)
Very glad there's lots of riders racking up lots of rides.
-
Well done Mikey!
What Super Randonnee did you ride ?
-
Mikey is talking about the AUK R10000, not the ACP R10000, so no SR600 required.
-
Ah - ok thanks ...
I've got my eye on the ACP version & SR600's aren't that easy to come by in the South West - hence my question. :-)
-
HK and I have just been missing the SR600 for the last couple of years. We'll perhaps do a French one later this year.
Glad you are enjoying your year to date BM.
-
:o Well Done Mikey!
I tried to put a list of rides together to see what it would take to get to 100 points before the start of the year. I was past saturation point on a 'taking the piss' with her indoors when I finished and I think I was only at 64 points
-
Very impressive. That's 2-3 events a week for the 5 months from start Oct - end Feb :o.
My points target for the year is a more modest 75 of which Ive completed 14, though with longer days coming up I reckon the addition of events over 200km (+ day/night 200s) will see the scoreboard start to tick over a bit faster.
-
Well done!

masterplan for this
find a job that pays 25% more than the current one
reduce to working 4 days a week
have an audax say that looks like a work day every week.

yes....I must start buying lottery tickets!

I can't imagine a more tedious way to burn such vast tracts of spare time, but hey - each to their own. Nice work, BM .
-
Does Mrs Bikey still remember what you look like?
-
If he's got time to figure out putting ticks ✔️✔️ in the topic title,
then he's got time to get some more miles in.
;)

Well done Mikey - it was a pleasure to join you for a catch up and a few k's on Saturday  out of interest, how many k's has your current bike done? Must be getting on for 100,000 by now?
-
Good work Mikey. I now know what it feels like to be back on the bike doing Audax rides after a life changing incident, and can imagine your sense of achievement which encourages you to keep going.
I hope to also aspire to great things in my own way.

That's a good question, Pete.. I shall try to approximate based on when I got the bike, and use a date filter search on Garmin Connect. Reckon your guesstimate is a good shot...

Thanks B-S. Spot on, I'd say 👍
Wishing you luck, and oodles of that 'sense of achievement' as well. How much and how far doesn't matter, as long as you feel good about it. ✔️✔️✔️

Show-off! ;)
Well done Mike.

All my events are BRM (except the one that isn't cos it's only little).
-
I've never really understood ACP awards, but IF it just means I would need a BRM 600, I've done oodles, though not this year, yet...
-
No, a Super Randonnee 600, which is a different beastie to a BRM 600.
-
No, a Super Randonnee 600, which is a different beastie to a BRM 600.
Oh yes. I haven't done one of those. Might be difficult to organise in the UK (without a very silly convoluted route).
-
No, a Super Randonnee 600, which is a different beastie to a BRM 600.
Yes - to be an SR 600, it needs to have 10000m of climbing. The Pendle 600 appears to be the only AUK calendar BRM to fulfill that requirement.
-
No, a Super Randonnee 600, which is a different beastie to a BRM 600.
Is there a one sentence description of what a "Super Randonee 600" is somewhere?
-
1 SUPER RANDONNEE i.e. a permanent of 600 km and at least 10,000 m (32.800 ft) of climbing, homologated by the Audax Club Parisien, ridden in the Randonneur division.
From here: http://www.aukweb.net/results/acpawards/
Pretty much, you have to go to France. I think there's a list somewhere of worldwide ones.

Well done Mike, and there's me chuffed with my 52 points last year lol
-
Thx Deano and tonyh - think I'll stick to the easy-peasy British R10000 instead ...
-
The SR600 must be an unsupported 600km perm (not DIY) with more than 10,000m climbing, completed within 50 hours.

Yes - I noticed the 50 hours time limit. So the Pendle 600 doesn't count. That's a shame - it should count really because it still has over 10000m of climbing, there's a lower (40 hour) time limit and the gradients are nuts in places. Such is life ... I'll probably sign up for it anyway. :-)
-
I think there are differences in the way ascent is calculated that mean the Pendle doesn't qualify on level of climbing in any case. Not sure of any other details, mind.
-
I think maybe 'when in France' applies here... I'm happy with AUK and our rides, and we haven't really got mountains like the Europeans... I will admit though that the fairly flat PBP had its exhilarating moments...
So who will join me before 30th September?
-
Well done (again) Mike.
I managed 100 points in 2013 but since then I've finished in the 70's or 80's which feels like more than enough Audax for me.
-
"So the Pendle 600 doesn't count. That's a shame - it should count really because it still has over 10000m of climbing,"
For information purposes, the reason the Pendle 600 hasn't been registered with the Super Randonnee 600 series is because that would mean longer hours for the controllers at both the Langwathby control and the finish. Also, the extra 10-hours would obviously have to be ridden through the hours of darkness which would mean possibly climbing over some of the nasty (or normal in my events!) climbs as well as descending some of the steep descents in the dark! This was all factored in when the route was devised with the A686/A66 used for the night-section.
Physically, the event would count for the SR600 series as I'm sure there's over 10000 metres of climbing in the event.
Next year's Knock Ventoux 600, which has a predicted 10800 metres of climbing and set for the weekend of 23-24 June 2018 probably won't be run under the SR600 banner either!

Calendar events don't count. A SR600 has to be a perm.
-
Thanks for the clarification Andy & LW&B.
Looks like I'll just have to go to France for a long bike ride again.
Life can be tough, eh?
-
There's a nice one in Norway, if you fancy a ferry ride or two.

Thanks ! Hadn't noticed that one. Just seen your track on rwgps. Impressive !
-
I'm pleased to welcome STEVE GEE to the 'club'.
A superb effort, especially as I think he's working full time.
-
The SR600 must be an unsupported 600km perm (not DIY) with more than 10,000m climbing, completed within 50 hours.
ACP raised the time limit for Super Randonnées to 60 h a couple of weeks ago. 50 h really was too hard for most men and nearly every woman.
-
As noted in https://yacf.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=37784.0
-
With this weekend's DIY now validated I've passed half-way - 51 points. Twenty weeks left to get the other 49. Not going to be easy, but definitely do-able.

It's actually quite hard to do that in the UK. You could probably add a 160km loop to the Cambrian 4C with 2000m extra climbing, but that was set up by Peter Coulson to be pretty much as savage as possible. Some of Andy Corless's rides come close, but getting proof of passage on points that force you to do that amount of climbing rather than sneak around valley roads is hard.
If there's demand I'll do some work on a Cambrian Super 6A.

Yeah, but only just! ;)
-
14 riders achieved R10000 in 2013, 13 in 2014, 18 in 2015 and 17 in 2016.
25 riders have already achieved R10000 this year, and another 12 are currently in the 90s so presumably many or most of those will pass 100 by the end of the month.
Can't just be an LEL thing, given that 2013 was pretty much the same as 2014 (and similarly for PBP, 2015 was effectively the same as 2016).
2017 is likely to see as many or more R10000s than the two highest ever years put together. What's going on?
-
Perhaps there's nothing worth watching on TV.

6 months after you and subject to validation, I'm pleased to say I've reached 100 points this season! Only my second year of Audax so I'm feeling pretty chuffed with myself!

It was a very 'easy' winter last winter, combine that with a big rise in interest in DIYs compared with 2 years ago. Just my guess.
-
.... and the DIY interest includes increasing attention to ones of 1200+.
-
Subject to validation, today's Ditchling Devil Perm will have taken me to 100 points. I doff my cap to everyone on the honours board, in both this and previous years - it's a hell of a challenge.
-
With a bit of careful planning and some luck, I should just fail to get to 40 this year (points, not years).
-
I just need to DNS a 400 to complete my DNS SR.
And a 200 next week would get me to double figures.
Congrats to all those with treble figures!
-
Jesus, getting to 50 points was interesting!
Chapeau!

There's still time to enter a perm or DIY

+1 after yesterday's Venetian Nights route check. Probably the first in a series of one :-\
-
Well done, it's my best ever season but I'm no where near you.
-
+1...thanks over the past AUK year to the splendid organisers, ECEs and validators etc. wonderful ride indeed.
-
+1 Couldn't have achieved mine without the fantastic support of the SE DIY supremo - thank you Mr PS
