Title: Happy New Year!
Post by: SteveC on 31 December, 2023, 08:36:07 pm
For the first time since we've been together, apart from lockdown, MrsC and I are staying in for New Year's Eve and we have nobody visiting us.
It's just the way it's fallen out this year. Not planned. But I can't say I'm that bothered by it.

Anyway, here's to a better year in 2024, with more cycling (I've just been looking at my woeful stats).

Steve

Dr Beardy and I are home for the celebration, which is pretty much SOP for us on NYE. We have Me B the younger and one of her friends for company but that’s it. We’ll probably stay up to see the new year in.

Happy New Yaer to every one.

I’ll be in too. Might have one of the kids awake with me.
Also hoping for a better year, in many ways.
Hope you all have good ones too.

After the way this year has gone, I'm not staying up to see the new year in, but to make sure this one fucks right off, and when it's done that, fucks off some more leaves. :demon:

Whatever you're doing, have a good one!

We are currently drinking claret, eating a variety of cheeses with a variety of crackers and zooming with friends.

We were out earlier meeting up with friends old and new in the pub and do expect to be asleep when the fireworks go off which is now our norm.

I'm liking Morbier.  Lovely cheese.

We went out of pals Jon & Anita to the local curry house. We opted for the "buffet". Disappointingly bland, but I'm utterly stuffed. Have been falling asleep in my chair since we got back. Roll on midnight and I can go to bed.

Been playing The London Game at the rural campus of Larrington Colij Oxfod.  One win apiece for me, Dr Davis and Professor L and none for our pal Celia.

Must have been a sale on fireworks in Mordor, sounds like drumming in the sky.

We're at home with a dipsomaniac friend. On to the whisky now.

Happy new year everybody.

So far this new year has been better than the last new year because the sun has shone all day.

Happy New Year, all.  MrsT and I did what we always do this time of year, i.e. SFA with a slice of cake.  We always hated this jollification because in France callow youth and pissed adults take to the streets with fireworks and the barrage used to scare the bejasus out of the dogs.  We no longer have dogs to comfort, but last night it was like a bad day in 1930's Chicago out front and we did not enjoy it.

Happy New Year. We were on our own. Had steak, ice cream, some nice vintage port and went to bed. This year the plan is to lose 2 stone and cycle /run a lot more.

Happy New Year from Germany.

We actually went to bed at 10:30, as my husband is feeling a bit man flu, but we were woken at midnight by the fireworks which everyone in the street sets off, like T24 says. The bonus this year is that the dog is now almost completely deaf and slept through it all, rather than having two hours of barking.

Happy and Healthy New Year to all

Happy New Year all.

Kim and I were happily on our own with the BHPC big clock on countdown (cos what else do you do with the damned thing). Kim can upload images later as I can't remember how to work the new image gallery and webservers (cos I'm thick and forgot).

We also had CAEK and I had plenty of tea.

Happy New Year All.

I was unexpectedly out at midnight, on a date! (No firework/bang puns, pls).

It was a lovely evening and a great start to the year.

Oh, more cycling, less booze, cheese, etc, obvs.

On NYE, I  drank an entire bucket of hot chocolate with whipped cream, biscoff bits, marshmallows, and chocolate sauce. As a result, I spent the rest of the evening feeling nauseous and could only opt for a small glass of sparkling wine at midnight. Sympathy stretched to well, you shouldn't have drunk it all then. I paid, I'm not throwing it away. I have form for this, I once ate an ice cream the size of my head-times-two in Chicago and got so sick I threw up in the bin trashcan outside while my wife walked away and pretended not to know me.
