Title: online purchase of prescription specs
Post by: geoff on 31 July, 2009, 01:37:41 pm
Anyone here have experience of doing this - any recommendations?

I've just come away from the local friendly  opticians with a quote to reglaze my current frames at a cost of £52 per lens for really ordinary reading glasses  :o But these (http://www.glassescomplete.co.uk/buy_glasses/reglaze/) folks will do the same task for as little as £15 the pair.

Should I give £89 in order to keep my local friendly optician in business? Should I care?

Today I received a new pair of glasses from Optilabs; they were half the cost, at £230, compared to my local optician's.

Much as I'd prefer to support the local business, I simply can't afford to throw away hundreds of pounds.
