Title: Rack to store tandem
Post by: LittleWheelsandBig on 11 July, 2010, 09:02:59 pm
The bike room is a bit cramped and it would be useful to store at least one of the two tandems high enough to put single bikes along the walls underneath. To complicate matters, there is some drywall stuff in place and I'd prefer not drilling holes in the walls or ceiling. Is there a freestanding rack suitable for hanging a tandem? The Topeak racks are good for storing single bikes but I don't know anybody hanging tandems from them. Any ideas?

Can you DIY? Some 3x2 wood between floor and ceiling with those cheap big cup hooks could work fine.

Would you reconsider fixings into the ceiling? The neatest way (IMHO) to store a tandem is to turn the bars sideways and hang it upside down with a ceiling hook for each wheel.
