Title: British Cycling in OSM, June 29th
Post by: Frenchie on 30 June, 2008, 09:55:45 pm
I'm surprised nobody mentioned the excellent article in this Sunday OSM (Observer)! A great overview of the infrastructure and system that have led BC to such success over the past 11 years.

Nobody reads the papers?  ;)

Oh Come on!

We're mostly Brits here Frenchie - you know we can't read. Anyway, we're all too hungover Sunday morning...  ;)

Sorry, Frenchie, you will have to translate.

Some research has unearthed the fact that OSM stands for "Observer Sport Monthly".

"BC" keeps coming back to Brian Chapman, but something tells me I'm wide of the mark.

Enlighten me please.

I saw it.  There was a picture of Ms Pendleton with track bike, described as doing something or other (it's in the recyling bin and I'm not diving in head first to pull it out) to her "gears".

Never heard of British Cycling! Oh dear... ::-) You could at least read the thread title!  ;)

A really nice article it was. Fi, c'mon, read it: There's a lot more to it that Ms Pendleton! Spoiler: It is about the British track team and the supporting team behind it.

Hummm... You've got style!

PS I read mine in the garden, after the ride, lunch and while Baby G was asleep!

I'm not sure they publish it online. I can try and scan it for you... if you bring me a present for Chrismas...  ;)

I've read it now.

I didn't realise that there was an organisation called "British Cycling" until reading this thread and the article Frenchi referred to.

It's okay. Nearly everyone still calls it the BCF.

Which to me is the British Chess Federation... except that has been turned into the English Chess Federation, there already being a Welsh and a Scots one, but it still organises the British Championship and its website, of which Dez was the first webmaster more than 10 years ago, is "http://www.bcf.org.uk/".   ::-)

That confusion must explain why they changed the name. Imagine turning up in full lycra, with your bike, to a chess match.
