Will poor beleagured Woopert and/or Jimmy pull the plug? I'm hoping Cav hasn't signed on the dotted.

Sky's sponsorship of cycling (inc. Team Sky) is to "soften their image". They need that more than ever at the moment.
And the hookup with British Cycling is down to another exec at Sky, Jeremy Darroch. It's nowt to do with either Murdoch.

But don't imagine for a moment that there is any emotional attachment in this. As soon as it is no longer convenient, Murdoch will cut the links and not give a stuff what happens next.

But Murdoch has got to where he is by being more ruthless than his peers.

I guess it's a good thing that cycling fans tend to follow individual riders rather than teams, given sponsors like Sky and Molteni. Not to mention the really exciting ones like Eurocar and Quickstep flooring. oooh....

But he's still only a 39% owner of Sky (mercifully), so it's not his decision alone.
I suspect that in the current climate, the Sky board will get rid of Murdoch sooner than quit sponsoring the team.

James Murdoch is the keenest on cycling, he has ridden the Etape and other sportives, it's noticeable that the ST has the best coverage of cycling of any of the Sundays. Team Sky has sometimes been called James' vanity project.

He's probably a media mogul on a Colnago, one step up from a dentist on a Pinarello, or a vet on Winer.

In the Alps last week, I nearly ran into a Big Mat (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BigMat-Auber_93) aggregates lorry.
I'd still like another of their team bottles, the last one wore out.

In fact, he has a stable of Pinarellos, some for riding, some as "art".

Yes it would you would just have to drill several holes in it first. Don't ask my how I know this or how many artic lorry loads of Mr Sugars finest products I had to do this to years ago when I was workshop manager for one of his resellers.
