Battery Power Settings
« on: 03 December, 2008, 05:00:16 pm »
We have an Acer Aspire 5100.
Instead of coming up with the normal windoze battery indicator it has 'Acer ePower management' which is frankly a crock.
It won't tell me when the battery is about to die despite my best efforts, which is quite useless.
I'm sure it should be obvious but I can't see it so,
How can I get the standard windoze one back?

Tried uninstalling it?

If it leaves you with nothing download the power management software from here:

Acer Europe - Service & Support, Drivers & Utilities, Downloads, Notebook, Aspire 5100

And reinstall it. You might want to try this anyway as the one off the Acer site might be newer than that which you have and might work better. Try updating your BIOS as well if its older than the latest on the Acer site.

I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

according to the Microsoft help doofus

To add the Power Meter icon to the taskbar, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Run, type PowerCfg.cpl, and then click OK.
Click the Advanced tab.
Click to select the Always show icon on the taskbar check box, and then click OK.

Thanks, will give some of this a try if the damn thing stops looking like it's going to die!
