Poor guy:

Though why was it in the stairwell? A £2,000 bike? And a 'mountain bike' - apparently it's a full sus Koga Miyata. There aren't many about - it should be easy to spot!

And then the predictable comments of 'he was asking for it' and putting bikes at the bottom of stairwells is 'anti-social'.

Though having a 2 grand bike left in the stairwell does seem a little bit... odd...

Ah - I hadn't looked at the comments. I don't if I can help it - too stressful and depressing!

But his surprise at it being taken from there... "It is an unbelievable place to be taken from." No, it's not, really. But still a shame for the poor guy.

It was secured with two locks.

I'd hardly say they were opportunists.

And at the top of the stairwell. A targetted theft, methinks.

And it was on the top landing, not the foot of the stairwell.

Gits.
Getting there...

But - people go round all day with tools, checking out stairwells. The fact it's on the top floor means nothing. It's happened in our close - it's not right, but it happens.

So I doubt they went specifically for his bike. It could be - I've no way of knowing. But I imagine it's just someone was checking it out, and got lucky with a flash bike.

And woolly, I dunno - I had a feeling I had read about his bike being stolen before, but i'm not sure. You'd think he'd mention it.

Poor thing. I wonder if it was insured? It would be really nice if someone handed it in but we'll see.

I wonder if he needs a bike now? I met him at the Earls Court show and he said the purpose of the RTW ride was to launch his career as a TV presenter/adventure racer. His next project is to row the Atlantic or something. I always suspected that he wasn't really a bicycle addict.
