« on: 12 April, 2009, 12:52:07 pm »
after being unplugged overnight the clock on my computer needs re-set and it forgets where the hard drives are. My numpty diagnosis is that the Cr2030 battery on the motherbaord is flat. Before I break fix it am correct?

Sure it's not a CR2032?

But yes, the battery keeps the little section of CMOS memory alive that holds basic info for the BIOS. If this battery dies then it'll forget the basic settings (clock, boot up sequence, and a bunch of other stuff).

Simple to replace, just make sure you don't kill the motherboard with static electricity whilst changing the battery.
