Lazy Cats
« on: 21 May, 2008, 02:48:51 pm »

One of my cats (avoiding descriptives) wandered in with a 3/4 grown rat (still alive) saw me put it down and wandered off. ::-)

Straight to the food bowl and then went back out.

Rat got promptly chased out, I was not in the mood to try and catch it.

Apparently domestic Cats sometimes see us as incompetent kittens, who clearly can't actually catch rodents, birds etc ourselves, so they bring back live animals for us to chase around and capture, in much the same way as they would do with their own kittens.

Oddly enough, of course, many of the behaviours that in turn we do to them, petting, feeding etc, is us treating them like kittens, rather than adult cats.
Actually, it is rocket science.

In marked contrast, our exiled cat Sassy wandered into the in-laws' kitchen last month with 3/4 of a rat (dead).

She was treated like a queen for the rest of the day.
Hard work sometimes pays off in the end, but laziness ALWAYS pays off NOW.
