Eating places near Pompey
« on: 14 May, 2011, 11:51:22 pm »
I'm booked on the 09:00 ferry out of Portsmouth on Monday morning.  My cunning plan is to ride down from High Wycombe overnight.  However, I've realised that this falls down as it's a fast ferry and won't be that good for refuelling (I've got another 50-ish miles to do on the other side)!

Does anyone know of a cafe within fairly easy reach of Pompey that will be open about 06:00?  I don't want to go too far off route as I'll be towing a trailer and full camping gear; nor does the word 'lightweight' figure in my vocabulary!   ;)

All suggestions gratefully received.

Clare

I assume you mean the cross-channel ferry and not one to the IOW?

Anyway, depending on your preference, Mick's Burger Van at the top of Portsdown Hill is probably your best bet, open 24hrs/day 365 days/year. It's in the layby opposite the Churchillian pub.

Thanks Clare.  Yes, I did mean the cross-Channel ferry.

Sound like the van will be just what I need!  :D
