You wouldn't say that if you'd ever seen my bowling style, any unpadded bit of body (batter, fielder, umpire, I'm not picky) is fair game for the thwack of leather on flesh. Whether I have ever managed to get the wicketkeeper upside the head with a wildly flailing bat I shall leave to guesswork.

 ;)

Ok I admit defeat, let me know who you play for and I'll do the scoring and stay off the field, I should be safe then :)

Let's not overlook my fielding technique (which applies to all ball-sports, really, not just the crickety ones) where, due to squinting at the ball through streaming hayfever, the thwack of leather on skull is more of a risk.   :hand:

You're standing too close - if you get far enough away, the ball is on the floor by the time it gets to you. I found standing by a fence at the far side of the field, watching the seagulls following a tractor was a fairly safe bet.

The chap who replaced me in our school cricket team, on the occasion of an easy catch coming his way, was hampered in his efforts by the half-made daisy chain on his lap.

My bowling had a modicum of success by being left handed and a bit random.  I managed one c&b, but I did it with my eyes closed, so I'm not sure it is any demonstration of excellence in the field.

My interest in cricket, being a Yorkshireman born after the retirement of Len Hutton, is, of course, limited.
Getting there...

right just to bring this thread back on topic, nice to see Strauss get a ton and when listening to Sir Viv on the radio it sounded all too familiar with the windies fielding with their hands in their pockets, I was hoping for better from them.

Is it safe to assume you don't mean Dominique Gaston André Strauss-Kahn?

1) I don't understand cricket (though I'm leaning towards the HGTTG view)

2) I'm an irreverent foreigner

3) I've had a stressful day, followed by drink

Enjoy the game/match/series, hope England doesn't lose too badly!  :)

C&b? Cock & balls?

Caught and bowled, i.e. the bowler made the catch.
