I have entered.  Given that Gavin's events start just down the road, I should ride more of them!  The route looks enjoyable, taking in the hillier elements of The Marches along reasonably quiet roads.

As for camping arrangements, I am not aware any  sites really local to Droitwich. .  The following may be helpful:

I'm doing this as my first Audax.

Does anyone know if this is still the route? http://ridewithgps.com/routes/6090849

Also anyone got any tips? I've ridden 150 miles in 13 hrs so hopefully I'll manage it (although this is lumpier!!)

I rode this last year and it was a tough but fair ride, rather typical of Gavin's routes.

Gavin will send out a route sheet nearer the time, I don't think he is into GPS so you may need to construct your own route if you want to use GPS, having said that his route sheets are usually very detailed and accurate.

Deal!

Has anybody received their route sheets yet?

No, I was starting to wonder about that. At what point should we start to panic?

A fine day yesterday. Gavin lived up to his reputation of using innovative routes and quiet backwater lanes. Whilst the area east of Ludlow is 'on my patch', I never knew some of the punishing lanes existed.  With tired legs, the climbs up-and-down through Corley and Neen Sollars were particularly exhausting.

I could not spot the info control prior to Kington but that may have been may lacking powers of observation.  Knighton was utter carnage as I arrived midst carnival, having to negotiate crowded pavements with onlookers cheering the passing floats.  The passage through Knucklas with its ornate viaduct was stunning.

Gavin's audaxes are only small affairs and nearing x'rated but they are commended.

It was a cracking day out, I thoroughly enjoyed my first Audax! Everyone was super friendly and I was in good company the whole way round as it turned out Tom and Trevor (is that right? I spent 215 odd km and 12 hours with you and now can't remember your name, ridiculous!!) were riding pretty much exactly my speed.

It was an excellent route through new territory for me, even though I'm quite close to the start, I'll be heading that way again.

I'm now scouring the calendar for my next ride!!

Hello John. Reading between the lines, you are relatively local.

Gavin has another ride in October heading off to Witney.  Additionally, Mark Rigby provides excellent and frequent events starting from Tewkesbury. You will be more than welcome to enter any of the three audaxes organised by the Beacon RCC.

Hi!
I'm south Birmingham so not far away at all. Unfortunately I'm on my holibobs for the October rides but I'm liking the look of some of the Tewkesbury ones, maybe the November and/ or December...

I'm determined to keep my momentum up over winter, your express routes will be pencilled in for Feb... I've already got a couple of ideas for my first 300 next year!

Cracking ride  despite being my easiest ride into Wales so far it still just notched up 3AAA according to my Garmin; but the hills were more steady than gratuitous; fantastic views and skies all the way round

the beer voucher at the finish was very welcome  :P

thanks Gavin  :)
