Finished (at last)

The new fixed wheel.
Actually it was finished a little before Christmas but a catastrophic failure on its first outing meant that it's been in a state of rebuild again since then.

At the moment it's sort of shiny (or as near as it will ever get) so I thought that I'd post it just for the sake of it.

Note: the silly handle bars are not me trying to look kewl, it's 'cos I've knackered by back and can't reach drops - honest gov'

It's a bit yellow. ;)

Someone will be along in a moment to comment on the chain...

Just like Johnny Milner's '32: "piss yella" & chrome. apparently it was the first time anyone had ever asked Fred Williams for a yellow fame when I bought it in the early nineties - I was told that they had to do a special mix because yellow was like white: and you know the old adage "You'll never sell white bikes".

My thoughts were that the brighter and shinier the frame the less likely I was to be SMIDSYed - important because the frame was replacing the one that a copper had just driven over while I was riding it around a roundabout and if copper's have a hard time seeing you then what hope everyone else!

I've since learned that brightness is unimportant if people don't bother looking in the first place.

Good luck with that - when Butterfly was hit last week, she was wearing fluo yellow jacket and had multiple lights front and back.*  :-\

Well, precisely.

* Though her bike is dark green.  Now, maybe if it had been yellow.... ;D

That is SO nice.

Though I would, personally, draw the line before yellow tyres and frame.   That's just me, though.
