Re-did the Orbit's bar tape last night, moving the computer and adding an extra light mount as I did.

If the bartape gets a bit uneven & gappy, I often leave it on the principle that no one wants to nick a scruffy touring bike.

But there's a lot of satisfaction in making it right. :)

Got any pictures of your Orbit?  As a proud owner of an Orbit tandem I'd be interested to see what an Orbit solo looks like, especially as I understand the Orbit solo range is now defunct.

I do have some pix - both in the original livery and the respray.  I could post them later, but not from work.

*thinks*

There may be some in the Ride Reports.  Not the blue & silver bike - that's a Raleigh (Mac the Hack).

I may stroll down memory lane & post linkys. :)

Here's a link to a ride report.

There's a good pic in that one.  Surprised there aren't more, actually, but I've got a few images in my Photobucket.

I really need to get a pic in the current set up, with the front racks, Raceblades, and Super C saddlebag

Jolly good, I like looking at pictures of bikes.

The Omega's the most comfortable. But it's just a bike.

I was going to say much the same - so I didn't ;)

But this weekend i took the PBP numbers off the Matt Chester and rode it for the first time since August last year.  What an absolute joy !  It really does stand out from all my other bikes.

At the risk of being boring and syrupy, I got to ride my Orbit again this morning, after too many days off, with him sitting forlornly in the dining room.  I realised, when looking for this thread, that I have mentioned this bike a time or two.  Don't click on the Spoiler unless you really want to be reminded about how special this bike is.

My Roberts Roughstuff is that bike.   I've only had it six years but it always puts a huge grin on my face whenever I ride it.

Nothing comes close   ;D

I assume you used that specific gear selection to haul those rocks up there

Nice bike that Orbit.

Although I deeply love my bikes (including our Orbit alloy tandem) I wish I owned a steel frame that had been with me for years, much like your Orbit.  On Monday night I was admiring that nice Mr Nesbitt's steel Eddy Merckx, he said he'd had it for years.

Decades ago I had a Raleigh steel frame.  Only the main tubes were 531 but if I still had it I could have upgraded the forks and it would have made a good bike into something of a classic, nowadays at least.

Moral of the story: think long and hard before you get rid of a bike.

That's the only level bit of ground in those parts.  I'd just hacked across from Cross Stone Road.
