Please explain the headtube luggage mount on a folder.

I've been having a laugh this week using a eensy-weeny pink Dahon folder, which spends most of its time hanging around as Mrs Gordy's "spare." The thought of doing small tour on the thing appeals to my inner stupidity.

It has a lump with threaded holes on the front of the headtube. I assume it is for Brompton type luggage, but I'm not familiar with that and I don't know what I need to mount a pannier or a saddlebag there.

How does it work? Thanks.

Bromton has a trapezium plastic block which screws onto these screws.
Special Brompton luggage engages click-fix stylee with  block.

David Hembrow, basketmaker - Basket for Brompton bicycle has a picture of the frame, with a rather fetching wicker basket, that sits over the block, which is screwed to the two holes in the bike frame.

The tab at the bottom is the release to remove the frame from the block.

NB. Dahon may do things differently to Brompton.

Dahon do indeed do things differently from Brompton (no sense in giving profit to the competition, after all).   The "luggage" section of the Dahon website illustrates.

I'll just add that I love the Brompton style handling over a normal bar bag handling.  Having the luggage on the frame makes it so much easier to ride.  I hope your Dahon is the same.
