PAC please tell me your secret!

I was also at Sainsbury's at 1630..but didn't arrive back at Chalfont until 1930!!  The final 25 miles in little more than an hour? If only I could ride like that...

I think it was closer to 25km than 25 miles, so an hour and a bit seems about right. I think I left about 4:30 and got back at 5:45. I had my low patch in the section before Winnersh, so after some grub at Sainsburys I picked up a bit. I also found that due to the condition of the roads, I slowed down a lot once it got truly dark. That extra half hour of twilight between 4:45 and 5:15 probably saved me 15 minutes had I left half an hour later.

Hello everyone, i'm new here so be gentle with me.

Thanks to Paul and everyone at the Willesden CC for organising the ride, a grand day out. I rode with zigzag for a while, great to meet you, plus a couple of riders from SWRC until a bit of back pain forced me to take it easy for a while. Managed to get back by 5pm just as it was getting dark, a little tired but otherwise in good shape. Next up for me is the 3Down in early April so a couple of months of 'training' awaits.

Responding to an earlier posting - according to the routesheet it was 41km from Winnersh back to Chalfont so an hour seems a bit strong even with a tailwind, and there was the climb up to Cliveden.

To be fair, it is signposted thus as you approach Membury from Ramsbury.  The sign at the bottom of Hackpen has had the e blanked off ;)
They be over the hill and FORRINERS :)
I'd offer you some moral support - but I have questionable morals.

Hmmm.....thinking about it, it must have been 15:30 I arrived there and then left just before 16:00hrs....if not, it must've been the power created by the Eccles fuel!
DJR (Dave Russell) now retired. Carbon Beone parts bin special retired to turbo trainer, Brompton broken, as was I, Whyte Suffolk dismantled and sold. Now have Mason Definition and Orbea M20i.

Yup, even 90 minutes for the last section is pretty good going. I'd reckon on ~45 minutes to Maidenhead and then at least same again up to Chalfont, with the emphasis on 'up'.

But to be clear, this is the Anfractuous we speak of. The 2011 editions of the Winter Willies are flatter than a flat thing.

Funny how he tells different stories before and after, isn't it >:(

Well, there has to be some 'up' somewhere to make up for all of the 'down'.

Otherwise you'd end up in Australia!

I can't see a problem with ending up (or down) in Oz.

Indeed.  And there was I wondering if I'd hallucinated the climb out of Lambourn.
Half term's when the traffic becomes mysteriously less bad for a week.

I rode up to Chalfont to collect Andrij's bikebag today. It had been jettisoned by our light fingered friend and then returned to Chalfont by the finder thanks to the WW details inside (there is a moral there somewhere).

The round trip was about 60km. A bit miserable out though. I dozed off in front my laptop this afternoon.

I'm riding round again on Saturday with some Willesden come latelys. Even though the route is well known for being flatter than a flat thing, I fear its going to be a long cold dark* flat thing on Saturday...

*My dynohub is at SJS so I'm down to a EL500 at the moment.
