Help me find a stunning backdrop
« on: 28 June, 2008, 10:54:31 pm »
When I cycled to York last week my bike was 'Fully Loaded' it looked good. I want to submit a picture to 'Fully Loaded Touring' but they want a stunning backdrop also. Next time I shall be 'fully loaded' will be when I ride from Peterborough to Mildenhall, help me find a stunning backdrop on those roads will you please ?

The sky, if you're lucky.
Perhaps you could do the New or Old Bedford river disappearing into the distance underneath.

Any bridge over the A14 if there's been a massive smash and the road is completely foocked in both directions and you're laughing till you wee . . .

Ely Cathedral

+1 but from further away, somewhere like Littleport p'raps, or the riverbank from the north.  Or by the big cannon right in front of it...

A large green blanket and photoshop onto the background of choice?

Or is that against the rules.

Can't really see the cathedral from Littleport side. Best spots are from Quanea Drove for a long shot, or from the park in Ely. This shot from a bit furthur back gives you a fence to lean the bike against.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is...

If you're lucky, you might get a photo opportunity as you pass Mildenhall Airbase:

Or if you're unlucky, like two years ago, they'll be spooling up Galaxy C5 engines all bloody night  ::-). Didn't matter as it happened - the rain on the tent kept me awake anyway!

If you are coming through March, you might come along by Sixteen Foot Drain.

It's stunning if you like bleak emptiness and a loooong long straight road.

Martin; do you go anywhere near New York? that's the most underwhelming "bike next to a signpost" photo I've ever taken, and I'd ridden all the way from Boston too...
