That is appalling. I'm not sure that as a car driver who doesn't know the area you'd either spot (in traffic) or understand how those markings are telling you to go.

That junction could so easily be fixed.
Extend the pavement out to chop off all the road south of The Drive, making Sandy Lane turn right to approach the A road at a right angle.

But that would slow the traffic flows.

Well, apparently a big man on a bike is unable to do that, and looking at the Wimbledon link neither is a sodding great lump of metal.
