Why did the chicken cross the road?

It was scared by a cat.
A bit of a commotion from the back garden. The free ranging chickens had been spooked by one of the local cats.
We retrieved the Black Rock from inside the greenhouse.
The sussex light was on the kitchen roof.
The Northern Blue had gone north two gardens.

And the speckled had vanished.

A bit of searching was unsuccessful so my wife went knocking on doors. The chap afew down had said he saw something dark grey running across the road. There is a large patch of shrubbery with several clumps of trees/large bushes and grass opposite.

Off we went searching through in places very dense shrubbery for a bird descended from a jungle fowl.
After some considerable tiime she was spotted, not on the ground but on a branch at about head height. So I played the role of beater and flushed her out of the stand of trees where my wife was able to catch and return her to the run.

Phew.. So now we know the answer to the age old riddle.
