A few days ago I was in Bamberg's Faessla brewery drinking their divine lagerbier. It was so far removed from the pish we call lager as is possible. Straight from the wood too. Shame the Spezial over the road was shut. Get yourselves there some time...

I'm working my way through a 75cl bottle of Leffe Blonde beer. It's too strong really at 6.6%.

It's strange stuff and whenever I've drunk it before, it has reminded me of something and I've just identified what: the mouthwash on offer at the dentist's whenever I have my teeth drilled.

One (1) 330ml bottle only of Guinness Foreign Extra Stout @7.5%, out of the fridge for a pair of hours before opening to let it warm up to the right flavour. A special treat when I need to decompress after a particularly ... challenging night at Scouts.

A single malt Balvenie or something. A birthday present in a wooden tube.

Not bad. It's not Lagavulin but it is peaty so its an acceptable substitute.

Whilst in Edinburgh the other week, the hotel suite we stopped in had a free decanter of whisky. We were in the Ardbeg suite, so guess what we got? Yup, TCP disguised with alcohol. No wonder there were only little shot-like glasses to drink from!

Tullibardine 1488 tonight, a 7% after dinner beer from the distillery of the same name, made with malted barley and then conditioned in ex-whisky barrels.
I've just noticed I get a 10c refund when it's sold in S.A.
