Outstanding!  Beautifully done - the two Germans were damn near flawless too.

Did you see the journo go down with a cam?  Reduced to gibbering within seconds, and the footage looked like real-life Wipeout.  I wanna go!

I loved the obvious camaraderie of the medallists at the end. And the unadulterated joy of the two germans when they
realised they both had medals.

When I was in Seattle I used to see WHL games, youngsters trying to be noticed to get a place in the big leagues.

The most fun hockey I've watched this year was the unofficial tournament we had on the island here, where two local teams challenge a coupe of teams from Toronto... and outdoors too. As it should be...

Okay, who else got a bit teary watching the skelly re-run?   :'( ;D

Now Super G.  What's the difference between Super G and Downhill?  Looks like the same course?

Well done to Amy Williams.

Shame about all the moans and disquiet about her helmet. It's ribbed for her pleasure. Nothing more, nothing less.

I got teary too - I watched ALL the links to it this evening on the Beeb website.

Now Super G.  What's the difference between Super G and Downhill?  Looks like the same course?

My understanding is that Downhill will follow the terrain faithfully, with gates to mark where the terrain mandates a turn and straight stretches where the terrain does not require a turn. Super G courses have a minimum of 35 gates for men, 30 for women, while Downhill does not have a minimum number of gates. So a course setter for a particular event has a fair bit of influence in determining what a Super G race will be like, whereas a Downhill course is fairly fixed once the trail has been built.

... you'd still be skiing in 1-piece ski-suits if it wasn't for snowboarding.
That reads like a classic 'snowboarders sneering at the old fogies who use skis' comment. And as is the norm for such snobbery, it's a load of garbage. Apart from serious racers, who need them for obvious aerodynamic reasons, one-piece suits have always been a minority taste.

Will you two tribes get a room already? :)

And - XC skiing? OMG peloton chase drama!

OK, so  this is perhaps a little creepy - in that I'm a bald old middle aged has-been and she's a mere 19, but I reckon Eve Muirhead is well hawt...

xkcd: Dating Pools needs to be repeated.

Yes, way too young. Amy Williams however isn't. Just. 38/2 + 7 = 26. Woo hoo!  Though I suspect this rule is like BMI and breaks down once you're over 30.

I like the final segment. Unfortunately, I like graphs too.

Superb metric mile at speedskating. Skobrev with a fabulous last lap, surprising performance by Fygind-Larsen and Tuitert performing the perfect mile at the best possible moment. The party afterwards looked great.

Did anyone else guffaw at Andreas Wank in the ski jumping?  I think that trumps Manuel Pfister.
