A question for which initially I'd like a yes or no answer...

I have a video which I am editing in Windows Moviemaker.

I want to create the effect of a visual cut away whilst maintining the audio track from a prior clip.
So, first scene needs to be Visual 1 and Audio A.
Second scene needs to be Visual 2 and Audio A continued.
Third scene needs to be Visual 1 continued and Audio A continued.

Can this be achieved in Moviemaker?

I think you can only do this if you split the audio from the video. I have a free program that does this on my home computer - I can not remember what it is called.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is...

You should be able to just drag the audio into the other layer where it won't be touched. I've done it before but not in a while.
You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say will be misquoted, then used against you.

Yes, I've done something similar.
