Slightly OT:-

One thing that occurred to me while watching the prologue time trial was that despite what looked like drops of rain on the camera, the riders were still shooting round sharp bends with huge amounts of white markings underneath them (wide pedestrian crossings, lane arrows etc.)...  I was expecting to see some spills as a result of that but don't recall any in the portion of the program I saw.

I realise these guys are professionals with infinitely better bike handling skills than me and that they have ultra-grippy (tubular) tyres on, but is that really enough to make as significant a difference as that, or are the white lines in Holland painted with something different to those in the UK?

But if they'd had the weather that Liquigas had they'd have won. I don't know why though, I just have a niggle about the men in green. I can't quite bring myself to believe in them.

Does anybody know a good website for up to date results. I've tried BBC, Eurosport and the official Giro D'italia sites and they all seem to be 24 hours behind.

Same here. I think it's largely because they're Italian.

Taking Millars position as a guide, about 8 secs behind Nibali in second place.

Could it be that there was a rest day for the transfer to Italy and there was nothing new to report ?

No I'm not just talking about yesterday, I took the rest day into account.

I'm watching the live coverage on Eurosport now and... they're racing bikes on those roads in those conditions? Wow. Hats off to the lot of them.

Most of the riders are so covered in mud as to be barely recognisable.

That is a classic stage. A real tribute to the hard men of the road/mud/whatever.

Great ride, great win. I know who my money is on for the overall now..
