Flints are no good for pressurised white gas stoves, though; with those, the main thing is to have the flame at the burner before you turn on the fuel, otherwise you can get a very alarming fireball.
The simmer control on my MSR Dragonfly is precise enough that I can easily get just the right amount of fuel in the cup to light it off with a flint sparker. The simmer control also lets me add a small quantity of fuel after the primer fuel is lit, without creating quite such a massive fireball. The massive fireball can be fun, though, as long as you're ready for it.
My recent purchases: Marmot Plasma 30 sleeping bag (water repellent 875 fill power down, water repellent shell, comfort rating of -1 degree C), and a Black Diamond Icon headlamp (head torch?). Do NOT turn on the Icon while looking at the bulb, unless you have plenty of spare time to let the spots clear from your vision. The Icon is more of a true mountaineering/caving headlamp, for trips where one expects to be routefinding or traveling in the dark. The Black Diamond Storm is probably a better choice for the cycle tourist, etc. who wants something for around the campsite after dark, or who might be traveling after dark.
