Potentially interested but unlikely to know until the last minute.  otoh I could try to persuade tall guy* to come and build one too (then I'll have a spare front wheel ...)

As one well versed in Popular Culcher, I need to ask if this is not a fairly risqué epithet for one's offspring? And has Emma Thompson been informed?

Another expression of interest here, as my n+1 project involves bringing the next bike into the house in tiny little bits, thereby flying under the radar. (I can also lay my hands on the basic Park tools rig) However, my availability  is mostly crap, so if numbers are too high feel free to count me out. ON THE OTHER HAND, I do a mean line in cake.....

For us non-Londinium types, have you any idea of a venue yet so we can peruse the public transport options in detail please?

Oh, and do I need to bring a jig or dishing tool?  If so I'd better get buying one...

It's either going to be a pub local to me in Ealing (I'll scope out one or two places that might offer us a back room in return for the promise of us buying BEER) or Jellied has very kindly offered us the use of the Ealing BikeHub space.  The latter attracts a small useage charge for the day which I'd have to pass the hat round for.

I suspect that for one or two reasons YE PUBBE might be a more attractive option  ;D

Date wise, how are people fixed for Sunday the 28th November, Sunday 5th or the 12th of December?  Hopefully these are far enough in the future that we should be able to get it in most of our diaries.

28th Nov I expect to be in Brum after the tunnels ride, but should be able to make either the 5th or 12th Dec.

I have plans to actually be out on the bike on the 5th  :).

28th and 12th are both good though.
Half term's when the traffic becomes mysteriously less bad for a week.

Slight preference for the December dates, but not really bothered.

December 5th preferred though could probably do 12th.  But this assumes there are no Xmassy things happening that I need to attend.  (How about January?)

November very unlikely.

<edit> there will be 2 of us if I come as tall guy is definitely interested.  (He has worked out just how bad is the wheel I donated for his build ...)

December dates preferred here as doing in-law nonsense in November. sigh.

I don't have a wheel to build, but am vaguely interested in somebody competent (and sympathetic to my utter klutz-ish-ness and inability to remember which is clockwise and which is anti-clockwise without visualising a clock or drawing circles in the air with my finger  ::-) ) enlightening me about how in case I ever do.  And I'd quite like to know how to replace a spoke, which is more likely to be immediately useful.  Depending on when, I'd be a possibly maybe....

Prefer the December dates:  First choice would be the 5th.

Would be very interested in this, but it would have to be January.

Of course realise that this is somewhat outside what's being suggested so feel perfectly free to ignore.

Sadly, I can't get a pass for any of those dates. Good luck to those of you who'll be doing their first build.

I have an on-one large flange front track hub. I have searched the internet and believe that its dimensions are 61mm flange diameter off-set 34mm from the centre each side equally.
I also have a rigida sputnik 700c rim. having searched the internet I believe that it has an ERD of 600mm with no offset.
Putting these figures into different calculators gives the correct spoke length to build a 32 spoke 3 cross wheel out of these items as 290.2, 290.5 and 290.5

Can anyone confirm that I have the right figures here please? That includes the dimensions as well as the calculation.

Can I get away with 290.0

If you have vernier calipers and a tape measure for the rim, take the measurements yourself and then round down to the nearest available spoke size (slightly too short is far preferable to slightly too long).
Hard work sometimes pays off in the end, but laziness ALWAYS pays off NOW.

I'm very interested.  It's something I've wanted to do for a while.  Unfortunately I can only do 5th December.  I've entered a couple of El Supremo rides on the other two dates.

Let's hope so as that is what came through the letter box this morning.
