Churches are cheaper for midweek weddings, innit?
This could be a major consideration. After a previous Royal Wedding (in the 1920s?) the brides parents had to sell one of their houses - Streetlam Castle so they could pay the bill (no - I'm not a monarchist - but Streetlam is local history for me).

Mrs MV points out that the thread title is probably wrong - the Big Day will likely be midweek...

Good point.  A royal funeral would probably be at the weekend.

Brevet Cymru weekend  :(

bastards.

OK, camping is still go, but I may vanish for the Saturday

edit:

it's OK, there's a piss-easy 400 from Cardiff the week before for my PBP qualifier.  I can ride that and then ride the BC400 as a perm in the week after.

We're interested. Woolly will hopefully be getting some weekends off in the New Year (hurray!) so date-permitting, we're in.

Wedding date announced as Friday 29th of April.
So that's:

Friday 22nd April - Bank Holiday - Good Friday
Monday 25th April - Bank Holiday - Easter Monday
Friday 29th April - Bank Holiday in honour of a YACF Camping Weekend
Monday 2nd May - Bank Holiday - May Day

Somehow, I think that I, along with millions of others, may not be allowed the YACF Camping Day (I've already lost the May Day  :'(  ). Four bank holidays in 2 weeks seems a bit much.

However, for those that can make it - it makes a 4 day weekend  :)

Excellent timing and doesn't collide with any events I had planned to do for PBP qualification

That weekend is bound to be a busy one for my wife - a registrar of marriages - so I would hope I'll be free no problem.  ;D

That's an interesting point.  We may have to facilitate some of our number taking a trip to the seaside on the Saturday.  That would work - we aren't that far from Chepstow.  Less than 20k, and mostly downhill ;)

just been advised that my good lady might be officiating at the abbey so no chance of me getting out unless I can find a republican babysitter

Bump.

I've just bought some train tickets.

Out to Bristol Parkway on the Thurs (arrive 1.04), back from Chepstow on the Monday (depart 10.49).

Total cost £50 for 2.

Hmm, good point.  I was working on the assumption that this was within riding distance, but in light of the ongoing knee situation, trains might be prudent.

Ah, off-peak return from Mordor Central to Chepstow is 27 quid.  That's okay then, can decide nearer the time, and not have to worry about specific trains.
