For the past couple of years I have been running an Exposure Red-eye rear light linked into my home built dynamo lighting setup. It's 100 lumen output has attracted many an expletive / appreciative comment.
At the weekend I fitted a Schmidt Edelux and a tiny bit of circuitry to drive the red-eye from the standard edelux rear output. Seems to work rather well and it includes a standlight. Should also work with Cyo as it is basically the same light. As the red-eye can be bought for £35, I thought someone may be interested.
All that is required is a Schottky diode to act as a half-wave rectifier, a supercap for smoothing and standlight and another Schottky diode just to drop the voltage a tadge. Wire up as follows:
------->|----------->|----------- +
|
----
input output (to red-eye)
----
|
----------------------------------- -
I used 1N5818 diodes and a 1.5F supercap, but any 5.5v supercap will do.
Enjoy !
