Seriously, you would have thought I had eaten her child the look she gave me!
So yesterday lunchtime I took myself into town to get a large object from Wilkinsons….they didn't have it but that's a different story. I went by car as it would have been too heavy to carry on the bike so had to pay for parking. Now I am a very strange type of person who does not mind paying for parking when I need* to do so as why should I use someone's private property for free? I just don't get why people think they should be able to do so and then moan when they get a "ticket" for being a few minutes late back. You paid for an hour, you should be back within the hour!
Anyway.... I parked my car and walked over the machine £1 coin in hand only to be stopped half way by a women. "Here" she said, "you can have my ticket, its still got 2 hours left on it."
"No thanks" I replied.
Confused look: "Why" she asked.
"The ticket is not transferrable." I replied going to walk on.
"No one will know." She said.
"Look" I replied. "I am not willing to risk it. If I use your ticket and someone from the parking company sees, I'll get a PCN for £50 as the ticket won't be valid. I am not going to risk it."
Well, the look on her face. Frankly, don't ask me to take part in your fraud. You might think you are being nice but you are not. You are putting me at risk: a risk I am not willing to take.
I got home and told CBH this story. The look on her face too! It does seem that I was wrong to turn the ticket down but I don't think so!
* apart from Virgin Trains. £12 a day to park at Stafford station is a rip off and one you can pull off as the car park is always full so mugs are willing to pay.
