I haven't done much "small tent" camping but I've done enough to know that single skin tents are a horrid experience unless it's very warm at night.
If it get's cold then the inner walls can get soaking wet (to the point where it runs onto the floor).
Trying not to touch the side of a small tent is a futile exercise.
The sodden tent door WILL flop down on your back as you exit, it's inevitable.
I think I'd prefer a tarp and bivi-bag.
