Have a great ride you lot!

Spare a thought for us getting cooked on the flatlands, as you finish up in the cool of the morning.

Looking forward to seeing lots of great pics.

On the train to York. Think I'm on the same connection to Northallerton as Wowbagger.
I'm tired and have a mildly unhappy tum. I'll try to get some sleep on the train.

Don't think I've tried the Copper Dragon IPA.....

With the weather being so good,90 mins ago I toyed with the notion of throwing bike et al in the car & driving up to Northallerton at the necessary warp speed as a very last minute addition:but thowing approx £70 in petrol at a bike ride is a luxury too far in these straitened times :(

I too hope you a have a splendiferous ride & look forward to seeing the pics..

Next year, jogler. Snow, howling headwinds, rain and fog guaranteed.

Quick fag and coffee then I'll be heading south. SMS/call me if you're lost, caught up in the bacchanalia of Friday night in Northallerton or otherwise bewildered.

Critical Mass was good (we had both a Raleigh Chopper and a DeLorean in attendance), though I'm suffering from epic hayfever now (which would probably be enough to make me think twice about the ride on its own).

Going to have some food and an early night (hopefully).

Looks like you'll cope without my rainlegs, have fun!

Missed the early train by a cat's whisker. Now catching the train I'm booked on. Will be in about 23:50.

Would have caught it if I'd been allowed to go to the theatre in my cycling gear.  Changing in the loos after delayed me...

Well that was a stonker!
Perfect weather, quiet roads, good company and I think only one visitation.

Deano's amended route had us at Scotch Corner for 3 and the pub for 9:30.

A few people suffering with hay fever though.

Added bonus was the Crinkly Pride turning up at Tan Hill accompanied by LindaG.

Kudos to Jane for doing the ride after being rear ended & knocked off her bike on the way to the station in London.

Photos when I get home.

I'll second that, Loadsa, Thanks Mrs Miggins!

Still have the photos to upload, but have a domestic issue to deal with first.

Have just seen MrC in NTR, don't think he recognised me as I was en auto.

Too pissed to say much now (my mate mate me in town after the ride and x pints on top of no sleep have sent me whooo).

But thanks, everyone. It was a bloody good ride.

Now at proper computer - but still trying to sort photos (and working on the getting pissed; on 2nd pint).

Random comments from a random brian . . ..

Deano, what a fantastic job of organisation. Timing was perfect all the way. Nobody left behind, checkers at awkward crossroads. You even arrange some 'podium girls' to come to the pub and greet us.

The weather was almost too much. I intended to ride back to York; but the headwind and heat defeated me. My knees are near chocolate brown from the sun (didn't put sunblock on them unlike face/neck/hands).

Poor Natalie received her introduction to semi-offroading; and didn't like it at all! Still, she made it to the bottom without incident. The lane is worse than previous years.

On the train back from North'ton I was buttonholed by the guard; he wanted to quiz me about my bike. Then he mentioned he'd seen a Planet X on the train the previous night that he also like. Aha, that would be Chocolate's bike!

Longest ride for me since the Easter arrow in 2012 - 222km by the time I got to northallerton train station.

Phantasmagoriana has done much worse offroad than that.

I think Phanta's aversion to offroading is genuine ( there's even a Phanta Rating for Tarmac smoothness), unlike her aversion to hills and downhills, about which she is clearly in denial. On last night's ride Andrew Br and I lost sight of Phanta on the drop off the tank ranges, and I've lost count of the number of forumites she's dropped uphill.

There were midges?  Endless blood-sucking swarms of the fuckers no doubt.

Well, that's all right then...   ;D

My photos are following. Can't seem to embed them though. Only 5, a combination of hay fever, delirium and lack of photographic skills.  I felt pretty awful until the sun came up.  Which luckily is pretty early at this time of year.  I am not really a night rider, I am pretty sure.  More of an early evening, quick nap, early morning rider.  from sunrise onwards, I was in heaven.  Thankfully the midge attack was not sustained.  Reeth is one of those delightful villages, people chose for its sheltered position in a wild land.  So it was full of the wee, evil monsters.  But, we climbed just a few feet, the breeze stirred and the tiny cowards fled.  Strange that such a puny creature can inspire such terror in humans.
Thanks to everyone, lovely bunch of people who put up with my endless sneezing, sputtering, moaning. Special thanks to especially, Deano, for the organisation, Tiermat (is that right?) I only got the non forum name of the wonderful person who actually rode to his house and returned with a brand new wonderful wheel to replace the one borked in Blackfriars.  (Good indie movie title there).  A wheel, probably better, certainly cooler than mine, but to my eyes, rather lacking in spokes, having even less, fully complete, than mine did borked.  He assured me it would be fine, and it was.  Better than mine, coping with the wonderful offroad tumble off Sleightholme Moor admirably.  Thank you so much, that was YACf hospitality above an beyond.  I now don't want to give you your wheel back, though, it's much better than mine.
Also thanks to Mrs Miggins and loadsabikes for their concern and kind offer of a sag wagon to Darlington.  It was lovely to feel so looked out for, and I was very, very tempted. (And Mrs M, lovely cake!)
Lovely to meet folks at Tan Hill too, the Crinkly pride, who I haven't seen for ages, and Ruth, at last, whose forum name escapes me.  At last, to shake hands with someone I already felt quite friendly with! Next time, on a ride, please!
