That clover thing just seems like a robot cafetiere.   All seems a bit emperor's new clothes to me.

Quite. I have one of these, which, with beans from here, makes a perfect single cup of coffee every time. Cost under a tenner.

I went to Starbucks in Seattle in 2004 because, as you say, it jolly well ought to be some sort of ultimate. It was shite, as per usual.  If you want good coffee you need to pedal to San Francisco and go and see these people Martha & Bros. Coffee

But $4 a cup?  It's got to be damned fine stuff...

£2.25. About the same as a (large) coffee in a Costa/Nero/Pret over here.
A bit more than 8 rupees then?  :)

Well, we did go to the first ever $tar$ucks at Pike Place Market in Seattle and they didn't have a Clover machine there.  The nearest one was a "few minutes" out of town*.

So we had a latte each and I can report that it tasted the same as every other $tar$ucks latte that I have ever had.  Unless my caffeine cravings get the better of me and there is absolutely no other alternative, I shan't be drinking any more if I can help it.  There are too many far better alternatives to corporate coffee.

For those wot like their coffee'n'stuff, may I recommend the Algerian Coffee Stores who I personally think are better than the Monmouth Coffee Co., etc...

Monmouth have the virtue of being on my way to work, though good coffee is the kind of thing that can easily tempt me to make a diversion...

I'm sure Old Compton Street isn't that much of a diversion...  ;D
