The BBC Weather app is telling me it's raining heavily just now. It isn't raining at all. The Apple weather app says 'chance of light rain'. The Weather Radar app shows that it's mostly missed us.

12.9mm recorded this morning. More forecast for this evening.

The most remarkable bit about the immediate forecast is that there is a predicted drop in temperature of 4°C between 7pm and 8pm today. As I type, the device says 19°C.

Last night, the minimum temperature was 16.2°C.

Winter has arrived early. Lashing rains with 40knots winds.

Glad I'm not on this evening's ferry. I'm surprised it ran, with 3.5m northerly swell predicted. Our neighbours are on it.

11°C now. 8°C - that is a pretty spectacular drop in temperature since my previous post.

Fairly well ventilated here too.

The last few weeks of mild weather has been a gift and now i fear General Winter will make an appearance this weekend. The forecast of much lower tempertures is always to be expected at this time of year. As i work in construction the coming months always engenders a sense of foreboding. Strangely, i always welcome the first frost.

The Great Slide out of Summer begins:

Looks like the SE UK is set for a fortnight of strong easterlies, though not looking too cold. A sunny but very damp morning. I shall be chopping up some old decking boards for kindling.

You're getting into ground frost territory there...

I think it must have clouded over as the outside temp has risen to 7.3°C right now. I’m not going out to look!

Zero first thing, the boiler was on for a short while. House is very insulated.

There was a ground frost in parts here in Suffolk this morning. The lowest my gadget recorded was 5°C, but it’s on the side of a building that will have stored some heat from yesterday’s sunshine. 3° was the forecast, and that’s cold enough for a frost on a clear morning away from buildings.

No frost here, it's high single digits which is quite a contrast to last weekend's mid-20s. Still I prefer these temperatures with sunshine to Friday's deluge even though that was warmer.

My device recorded a minimum of 4.6°C at 7.14 this morning. 8.3°C here now, so at least we are ahead of Reyjavik!

I cycled out to Two Tree Island to see if there were any waders worth photographing There were plenty of godwits, but quite a long way away, and a ringed plover (I think) rather closer. But despite the bright sunshine, I got quite cold sitting in the bird hide when the temperature was about 12°C, so rode home again. I needed my winter gloves.
