Hmmm... Lot's of people seem to have similar problems. It would seem that the very latest Shimano levers work best with HY RDs, with Campag and SRAM being "ok".

I can decide on brakes at a later date though....

Or indeed two versions of the brake as Avid do with the BB7.

I think I would be pointing the Sale of Goods Act at 'Teh Supplier' and pulling the trigger. Not suitable for porpoise and stuff . . .

They should work as advertised and hiding behind 'designed for use with other levers' etc. is just bollox unless they point that out in advance. Retailer's problem, not yours.

VELOMANCER

Well that's the more blunt way of putting it but as usual he's dead right.

I could of pushed harder but couldn't be bothered.

Mind you, last year I did get a brand new Fiat 500 off Fiat UK when the original one broke down 3 times in less than 6 months!  Got Trading Standards involved and all sorts so when sufficiently pi55ed off I can go for it   One of the most satisfying aspects of the Fiat saga was thumbing my nose at all the twats on a Fiat owner's forum who said I'd never win and was bonkers pushing for a brand new replacement car as Fiat were honouring the warranty.

It's fine now. We just had a Friday Afternoon Car. Nothing wrong with theFiat 500 so long as you get the Twin Air.

I have to disagree with you, see my rants passim.  That said, though, my rant was based on a whole unrepresentative sample (of 1).  Driving a 500 is not something I wish to repeat again in a hurry.

Nope, the F500TA is a smashing bit of kit, now we have one that works. Goes like shit of a shovel.

I think we will have to agree to disagree on that one, OD.  FWIW I am not one of these that has a downer on all Italian cars, in fact one of my favourite cars ever was a Fiat Uno Turbo (a Mk1 with the plastic tailgate).  Unreliable as hell and uncomfortable but I could easily get it leave the bonds of Mother Earth on the smallest of hump back bridges.

Still don't like Fiat 500s.
