Support driver (possibly) required 2-3 May
« on: 24 April, 2015, 06:49:25 pm »
MacRide Events (fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support) has an event on Sat 2 - Sun 3 May - we're taking about 135 riders from Stratford-upon-Avon to Cambridge (riders in coaches, bikes in a furniture van) and they ride back with an overnight stop.

We also have a luggage van (VW Sprinter) that takes the riders' luggage - there's a possibility that Aidan who usually drives the van may not be able to come (his mother has just been admitted to hospital as an emergency)

Might anyone be up for driving for us please?

0715 start Sat 2 May at Stratford-upon-Avon - load bags and drive to Cambridge to load a few more bags from Cambridge starters - follow route pausing with water etc for riders - hotel at Kettering to offload bags - stay overnight (all found in own room at Hol Inn Express) - AM Sunday load bags and drive along route to be at SuA by 1500 - that's it.

Clean driving licence required - the van is loaned to us by the local VW dealer (and their sister Honda dealer supplies a couple of CRVs as Team Cars)

At the moment we don't know for certain whether Aidan can drive - we'll know that by Monday 27 April.

Please let me know if you might help - a PM with a phone number would be good - more detail at  www.macride-events.org.uk  - obviously the Tour event - route is in DOWNLOADS section as Ride Guide.  This is the 6th running of this event, different start venue each year, and we know what we are doing! - we raised about £40,000 from this event in 2014.

As I said - at the moment it's "probable" that we'll need a stand-in driver.

Thanks
