Paul's Interesting Historical Snippet #4672 concerns a lake.  I'm sure it's a very nice lake, but the TV pictures we were seeing were of the breakaway riding past a rather ordinary field.

If, as Phil suggests, Peter Sagan is a former ex-mountain biker then what, pray, is he doing in a road race ???  Those two are getting as bad about Sagan as the ITV F1 colemantators were about Lewis Hamilton and, before him, Juan Pablo Montoya.

And Paul, tumbling gracelessly into the ditch does not qualify as "a mechanical".

I listen to P&P with added interest these days, thinking, "ooh, that one's going to wind up Mr Larrington no end".

Can we come up with some sort of P&P bingo?  Or betting when the first diesel engine of the day makes an appearance?

It seems that Geraint Thomas is playing already:

From the BBC
Quote
Tejay van Garderen is third, 20 seconds off Quintana. He is not as explosive as the others on the climbs, he's a bit more like me - a diesel - so we won't have to chase him down if he attacks.

"I tell you what Phil, with his big diesel, that's not the only thing he was pumping. Did you see that podium girl staggering along early this morning … couldn't stop a pig in a passage …"

"Eh?" replies Phil.

Maybe I was dreaming this particular interchange.
Certainly never seen cycling south of Sussex

I'm fairly sure the feeding zone is not the wossname de ryvitament; I'd think they'd want something a bit more substantial than crispbread on a mountain stage.

Geschke is fast becoming a contender in the mispronounced name competition, with Phil having just called him "Simon Gesture"

Catching up on yesterday and today's highlights show at the moment, so I think this is an Imlach line rather than a P&P line, but it made me giggle: “Geraint Thomas is still sixth despite the intervention of Warren Barguil and a telegraph pole.”

Let us celebrate the end of term by digging deep into our suitcase of clichés, shall we boys?

Firepower blah blah blah cobblestones blah diesel engines blah Sean Kelly blah blah leadout train blah firepower (again) blah Norwegian corner blah Greipel blah blah blah

Well usually I'm not too bothered by the inanities of the Paul & Phil show, but I think Paul Sherwen must have accidentally swallowed some speed this year. Dear God would he NEVER shut up? He actually managed to detract from the racing for me this year.

Paul's made it into Colemanballs: " It [the Somme] is a big milk-growing region." Private Eye has recorded the contributor for that as "Paul Sherwen". I somehow doubt that.
