Wondering WTF the huge plume of black smoke was rising up from a few of streets away... Helicopter circling at the moment. Loads of sirens earlier.

EDIT: Huge fire between a motorbike shop and a house in Witham, apparently (according to a quick search on that twitter thingie).

Yebbut that was audaxing, where you are meant to be self-supporting and audacious and challenge yourself, and which is undertaken by people who are ded 'ard and who will do things like carrying on riding when their frame breaks in two.

This is FNRttCing, where you are meant to have fun and get there in time for (beer for) breakfast and allowed to be useless at fixing punctures and minor bike wibbles, although people might ~~take the piss~~ laugh and point in a well-natured lightly mocking jovial manner while they help you.

It'll fit in a jersey pocket. But I think it'll just annoy me there.

And the TECs will have one.

As will almost everyone else.

You'll be fine, as long as you don't have a you-know-what on the way to the station and miss your train.

Just paid my Council Tax online, and I'm just about to go and get a refund from the horriblemarket.

Short story is that the checkout operating system* had a funny five minutes, cocked up the totals and effectively ran the cashback through twice. The relevant department at the head orifice then added their own little cockup by accidentally shredding the copy of the bank statement showing the erroneous deductions, but it's all sorted now...

Technological progress = finding new ways fix a process until it breaks.

* The checkouts run on Windoze, so go figure. And the reboot process makes XP look fast

Fiddling with the S3X hub on The Beast - given that SWMBO has decreed that she's going up to Edinburgh on Wednesday I'm going to make the most of the fact that I'll be able to get a few miles in without been made to feel guilty about not dragging my arse to Leeds.
