Because I was too knackered to cook much tonight after 3 night shifts and about as much sleep as I got on PBP over the past 90 hours, I decided to 'cheat' and use a pasta cook in sauce I had in the cupboard. What an awesome surprise, it was really tasty and the kids both cleared their plates  :o The only non-standard thing I put in with it was a red pepper. I will buy these sauces again, they look most unappetising in the jar but are great

Tired and a little sore, I made a bbq rack of ribs with corn on the cob.  Anytime I'm feeling a little rotten, serious protein helps a lot!  :)

Home-made egg pasta (tagliatelli) made using my new toy, a pasta rolling machine. Unfortunately it saves a lot of energy; one could have a pasta diet & lose weight so long as you have to roll it out by hand. A top upper body workout with a rolling pin.

Also, since it is Ms Marco's 14th birthday (:-*), a Victoria sponge with cream & strawberries. Never made one before; time will tell whether it is sponge or biscuit.

Happy birthday to Ms Marco!

Celeriac, apple and stilton soup.  A marginal success, improved by supermarket walnut bread.

Cottage pie a la Delia Smith. Which looks broadly like a lot of other cottage pies, but with half a teaspoon of cinnamon lobbed in.

Given the way my hip is feeling after wandering round Leeds for much of the afternoon, I'll probably be having Naproxen sandwiches.

Failing that, steamed chicken breast and a baked tattie.

Bought a slow cooker today so have made an experimental lamb stew. Gonna scoff some of that along with some Tiger baguette.

It smells good though the recipe is a mish-mash of two or three others along with a good dollop of guesswork. Fingers crossed.

Success!!  Was very tasty though will need to tweak slightly, the gravy was a tad watery as I didn't trust how little stock it said to add. Wasn't too watery though.

Jambalaya. Cooked by E Minor, who's just started learning to cook and is making very rapid progress. Not bad for a thirteen year old.

Sainsbury's chipotle chilli chicken (half price due to reaching its self destruct date) and half a bottle of nero d'avola (down to £3.99 , cheap but not cheap enough !)

Boy , do I know how to live.

Last night was cassoulet washed down with a nice cote du Nimes. No one else in chez pcolbeck likes it so it was from a tin i brought back from Langiadoc. Pretty good from out of a tin really, not as good as I have had in France but still quite acceptable.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

The remains of a pack of chickpeas, cooked and curried with lentils, peas, green beans, assorted other veg and cabbage.

That, combined with my beans on toast for lunch may make it a bit fragrant round here overnight.
