WTF is mock duck? Please tell me it's not seagull.
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

Tonight we shall be having venison stew.  It's been in the slow cooker overnight and I awoke this morning to the most gorgeous smell permeating the house...  :P

Ha! No, it's a Chinese thing, we buy it in tins from the local Chinese shop - it's wheat gluten, and sort of meaty. There's mock duck, mock abalone, and some others, I think - they're all basically the same thing.

Even though we eat real meat now, the Chinese stuff is really tasty, and a handy thing to have in the cupboard.

All that MSG.  Addictive and linked to inflammatory bowel disease.  What's not to like?

It wet cold and windy here now, so I'm preparing a large pot of pumpkin/ginger soup.

I love MSG... and sure, it's not good for you, but lots of things aren't. I don't eat it often, so I'm not going to worry about a bit in my mock duck.

(And, anyway, why pick on this, in a thread full of all sorts of unhealthy stuff? Leave my dinner alone  :P )

Wiki doesn't seem to think MSG is all that bad.

Tonight I'll be having a no-doubt unhealthy muddle of all sorts - we're going to a party with 'bring your own tapas', which is presumably a fancy version of potluck!

The rest of them are having something involving roast veg & halloumi but I will be out at an extra choir practice tonight, so I'll be bogging off for some fish & chips in a little while.

Lamb stew, with winter veg (carrots, parsnips, sweet pots and celeriac) served with cabbage.

Dal chawl. Well no, actually it's green lentils with assorted garlicy spicey things, and rice. I've got to get into the kitchen now, bye!

Gammon steak, pigsinblankets, roast taters, carrots, parsnips, brocolli & cheese sauce. There will be an intermission after which we shall force ourselves to scoff a chocolate-chip cornetto.

Plus there are some pigsinblankets left for Ron while watching the football & drinking Grolsch.

Curry, a Chicken Passanda for the good lady, and a Mogul E Azam for myself.

I CBA to cook tonight, and we are wrapping pressies, so may as well have something to eat that we enjoy, to dull the pain :)

Leftovers.  :(

Bresaola, sarrano ham, various salamis a mixture of decent cheeses, olives, bread, potato wedges (freshly cooked - not leftover), crudités and tortilla chips.

It's a tough job, but someone has to do it.   :'(

Last night, now.

I collected my kids and my mate's kids from the holiday club (where I had booked mine in for an afternoon so I could do christmas shopping without them!) and wandered over the road to Toto's restaurant, where my friend went straight from work to meet us.

Bruschetta, olives, garlic bread to share.
Rather good pizza
Crème Brulée with berries
Half a bottle of red
Espresso

Cracking evening - kids were all positively civilised, service was as ever efficient and friendly and extremely Cub-friendly, caught up with my mate and her kids who I haven't seen a lot of lately.

We're having roast turkey with all the trimmings tonight.  :-\

Sounds daft, but we're with the outlaws on Sunday, then they are all coming to us on boxing day - and we need leftover turkey for a curry
