Pseud's Corner moment.
In 1981, for my LGSM examination, I played Bach's B♭prelude & fugue from Book 1. I immediately followed a fellow student who had the same piano teacher and who had played the same piece.
After I had finished playing, the examiners at the Barbican asked me if we had the same teacher, because the interpretation we had been taught was such that we played staccato the 4th & 5th quavers of the fugue's subject. The examiners disagreed with this "skittish" interpretation.
I have just listened to Andras Schiff playing this piece on R3 and, guess what...
