Gosh, it's starting to look like a home! Was you heating not going to be pellet stove or ASHP or something equally sustainable? Hope you get your heating sorted out satisfactorily, what happened there?

The contractor lost his (microgeneration certification scheme) registration so we are ineligible for the Energy Scotland loan and renewable heat incentive payments on completion. He also took a 25% payment off us '3 weeks prior to installation of the heat pump' in June and he hasn't replied to e-mails or been back to the cottage since - despite a number of attempts to contact him.

Oh that's rotten. Can you take him to small claims court or something? To me losing your MCS is a bit of a breach of contract. Wonder what happened for them to lose that. Hope you can get a new contractor who can tick all the HES and RHI boxes.
