I recall that in the discussion about the Ride London event this coming Sunday there was a proposal to organise an alternative that
- cost £48 less than the official event
- had no "helmets compulsory" rule
- was devoid of silly people who enter without having any previous miles in their legs
- did not involve Boris Johnson in any way

It has just dawned on me that I said I would sort a route out and I've one nothing towards it. The weather forecast is better for Sunday - a mere 22°C - so I'm proposing a route starting at Wickford station soon after the 9.33 train arrives from Lpoo St.
I'll probably go for a 50 miler and there will, of course, be a tea room and a pub. Paper Mill Lock seems to be the ideal location for 11ses and I'll think about a pub somewhere.
If anyone is interested in joining me, please make your interest known. If an 8.40 departure from Lpoo St is too early, I'll happily delay the ride start until 10 am or so.
