I'm wondering how a wildfire can start in th Scottish hills in this weather..

We went over to Nevis Range yesterday and the ground is incredibly dry.  Apparently Fort Bill hasn't had significant precipitation for weeks.  And I managed to get sunburnt yesterday.... no OK, I can as ourfriendMartin said, get sunburnt by a low energy lightbulb.  But it was positively warm....

just finished checking then printing a tree load of paperwork in order that I can help an ageing couple submit their health and welfare lpa applications this morning.

I had to wait until April 1^st for 'new' forms but there is very little or no difference from the previous ones.    Bah, humbug!

As for me... I'm sitting here gobsmacked at having NOT been conned by my car insurance company. 28 years old, upgraded from a clapped-out old Mazda to a nearly-new BMW, and they only wanted an extra hundred quid to cover me until November.

Quite why I should do this, I don't know as:

1) I hate the place that I am doing them for
2) They have confirmed this morning that they will NOT be extending my contract

I think there should be points for this sort of thing.  A sort of Audax Asthma Award.  What it would lack in competition it would make up for in potential for endless threads debating how to calculate the balance between air temperature, pollen count, presence of a dog at a control and so on, and whether peak flow was a valid measurement for AAA purposes...
